Delhi 6-Audio Review
2009 started off well for Indian Music with "Luck by Chance" and "Naan Kadavul".How can the Golden Globe winner be far behind??Rahman comes up with an absolute feast in "Delhi-6".The movie is directed by RDB fame Rakeysh Mehra."Aarti" is similar to "Ik Onkar" and creates a sombre and pious mood."Bhor Bhoye" is a classical song.It will be lapped up by serious music buffs.Nothing in it for the average listener."Ghenda phool" has a rustic feel to it and is very much situational."Noor" is Amitabh talking and nothing else.
Now for the best:
1.Delhi 6: the theme is lively and peppy.Blaaze does a fantastic job.Big chartbuster.
2.Arziyaan-absolute magic.Kailash Kher does a fantastic job.The length of the song(8 minutes) does not deter you from the absolute ethereality.Another "Khwaja Mera Khwaja" in the making.
3.Kaala bandhar:Karthik does a fantastic job.Lyrics is pure fun.Fantastic instrumentation.Does not fall into any particular genre of music.
4.Dil Gira-Nice melody.Ash king does a fantastic job.
5.Rehna Tu-Rahman's voice lifts this song to heavens.A soothing melody with amazing vocals.
6.Masakalli-The pick of the album.Be it the starting humming or the unique voice of Mohit Chauhan or the catchy instrumentation, the song is here to stay for posterity.
Delhi 6 is unprecedented in it's variety even for a Rahman album. What do you say about an album that has Blaaze and Kailash Kher??A rap song and a classical dance song??Hats off to Rahman.2009 has just begun
