IPL-The UMESH analysis!

First the elections and now it's the IPL.My predictions have gone awry.Again

Here are some interesting views of mine about the SAPL alias IPL.

1.Old is Gold.Kumble takes a Five-for.Shane Warne spins his magic webs.Gilchrist demolishes the quickies to wherever possible.Hayden is the top scorer(even after missing 2 matches).Muralitharan is the only efficient bowler in CSK.If Mcgrath had replaced Nannes in the semis,DD might have won the title.IPL was more about old hearts than young blood.

2.Ravi Shastri taught us that earplugs are inevitable for IPL matches a la Perarasu movies."It's a Super Sunday!Are you ready South Africa?!".I switch off the TV.

3.Lalit Modi played an efficient politician.Giving donations to SA schools et al.Modi's ploy of "Education & Entertainment" was a big hit.Raucous school children.

4.Mumbai Indians are a lesson.T20 is more about nerve than nuances.Sachin was never a great captain.Lessons of 1995 are yet to be learnt.

5.CSK lost because of faulty team selection(Why was Hussey not in and why was Gony in?Gony is an Agarkar minus the timidity.)Dhoni has lost his rapidfire scoring abilities.Hayden and Muralitharan were never going to be enough.

6.Rohit Sharma,Suresh Raina,Manish Pandey,RP Singh,Praveen Kumar-IPL did partly serve it's purpose!

7.Mandira Bedi's new hair-do was atrocious.Her interviews were even more.(She was cuddling with and hugging Shahrukh as if they were in a private suite.)

8.KKR can take heart.Last year's last placed are champions this time.Imagine Agarkar yorking Hayden to clean bowl him and win for KKR  the title in front of a boisterous home crowd next year!

9.In front of a South African crowd,a former Australian cricketer lifts the Indian Premier League trophy.Atleast next year,let an Indian captain do it.

What I Liked In IPL-2:

1.Fake IPL player.(He rode into oblivion without revealing himself!)

2.Muralitharan.(His bowling against Kings XI was masterful.)

3.Sreesanth's celebrations after clean bowling Dhoni with a yorker.

4.Warne getting the better of Sachin(for once).

5.Harsha Bhogle.(The only sane commentator in a group of IPL PR guys.)

6.Rohit Sharma.21 runs off one over.

7.Yuvraj Singh.2 hattricks!

8.Cheerleaders of Deccan Chargers.I was praying for Gilly's sixers.

What I Hated in IPL-2:

1.DLF maximums and CITI moments of success.

2.Symonds' sledging in the final.

3.McGrath benched throughout.

4.Empty stands even in the final.

5.Ravi Shastri alias Altec Lansing.

6.Extraa innings with Arun Lal,Akash Chopra.Pity!

7.Katrina Kaif dancing for "Jai Ho".

8.Jayasuriya.Promised a lot.
