Kunguma Poovum 1001 Clichevum!
"Kunguma Poovum Konjum Puravum"-With such a beautiful title and the picturesque setting of Muttom(remember Alaigal Oyvathilai and Kadolara Kavidhaigal?),one expected a lot more from the new one Rajmohan.
Directors are slowly stereotyping the love subjects set in rural areas.Every village based movie cannot be a Paruthiveeran. All villages cannot become Subramaniyapurams.KPKP has a honest story to tell but throws away the chance with a boring screenplay and dull dialogues(Some dialogues in the romance episode irritated me to the core).
The new hero(gets a great intro with Ilayaraja's Aan Paavam number in the background) is a Cheran assistant. He proves that effectively with very bad acting. The heroine sports a sad look throughout. All other characters shriek, shout and what-not.The only saving grace is the oldie playing the heroine's grandma.Stellar performance.
Yuvan has work to do with his background score. Some tunes are hummable though.("Chinna Chirusu","Kadolaram oru").The SPB number just does not fit that Kannada actor.
The second half gets too predictable. The climax is even more so.Killing the lead pair and evoking mercy among the audience is a boring strategy.I have never seen such a decent storyline with natural characters marred by pathetic cliches.(The climax, heroine waiting in the bus stop and hero meeting with an accident, the boring theory of Moon's romance...OMG!)
Kunguma Poovum Konjum Puravum-Kadolara Kodumaigal!
