Chak De Pakistan!

I have started to root for Pakistan in this T20 WC.Not for the below reasons:

1.South Africa,inspite of it's peaking form,will choke.They may have 6 great batsmen,4 great bowlers and one great wicketkeeper.But never has a great South African 11 turned up on any great occasion.

2.India's strong lineup has been "Modi"fied into a fatigue-ridden lot.IPL has turned from an asset to a liability.How many T20 matches can Dhoni & Co play on the trot?

3.West Indies may have defeated India and Australia(Champions-T20,LOI) but they will metamorphose to a Zimbabwe if Gayle is out in the first over and Simmons in the 2nd.

4.Sri Lanka do not know to win a WC(1996 is history).New Zealand do not know to win a semi-final.England do not know to win at all.

But for a more stronger reason:

Pakistan is an economically impoverished and politically unstable state with a corrupt head of state.Clerics consider themselves as heads of the state and threaten.Army threatens to take over the administration anytime.Millions of people got displaced from Swat due to the conflict between army and Taliban.It had to borrow an aid of $100 billion last year to keep the economy alive.Pakistan is permanently in a state of depression.

Citizens of Pakistan need some good news as respite from their troublesome lives.So(inspite of their wayward bowling,pedestrian fielding and mercurial batting) let Afridi hit sixers,Gul bowl yorkers and Younis Khan steer his men to a great WC victory.To make the people of Pakistan smile.To make them celebrate in the streets.To make them forget Zardari.To make them lead happy lives again.

I want Pakistan to win-not for the 11 on the field but for the 172,800,000 people back home.

I do not mind Shiv Sena.Chak De Pakistan!
