The "Yen Idhayam Udaithai" fever!
No film in the recent past has received such extreme reviews as "Vinnai thandi Varuvaya" has got.It can make you feel nostalgic about your past love.It can make you go running to your lover's hug.It can make you secretly wipe away your tears. It can make you yawn and leave the theatre before intermission. It can leave you glued to the seat even when the end credits start rolling. It can make you feel proud. It can make you feel guilty.
VTV is one of those rare films whose success relies only on the viewer's sensibilities and not on the content inherent in the movie.I hated it because it made me feel guilty.
Note 1:Rahman comes up with his most complete BGM score yet filling each and every scene with an instrumental cue.The title credits starting with "Hosanna" and ending with Mannipaya's keyboard notes is a stellar example.
Note 2:Mannipaya is the best song of the album-by a large distance.I apologise for being too harsh on Rahman's voice in my album review.I feel that Rahman's non-indulgent and innocent voice is the song's USP.
Note 3:For the first time ever,I heard cheers in a theatre for a singer's voice.(Rahman in Mannipaya)
Now you've done justice da. I loved it. Gowtham Menon's best. In fact, one of tamil cinema's best when it comes to portraying the "feeling" called love.
