I am Alive!

As I revel in many disparate activities and come online suddenly,I realise that my dear child needs some feeding. So ,Here's an "I am alive" post!

* That watching a cricket match in the ground is an experience unparalleled is something I have realised twice already in a month. The opening ceremony of IPL/KKR vs CSK was the match we had chosen. The opening ceremony was highly annoying with relatively non-entities introduced as big-time celebrities. The only saving grace was Shah Rukh dancing to "Apadi Podu" and "Nakka Mukka".A complaint I felt was that the CSK has cheergals who don't cheer things up at all (sob) and cheerboys (double sob).
What we got out of the thrilling game in the end was a sense of guilt that we could not participate in a rally (a walk away from the Chepauk Ground) in support of Anna Hazare. While CSK was winning at Chepauk, the entire nation was winning at the rally. I always miss those bigger victories and settle with trivial joys.

*There are cynics who keep asking why should Dhoni & co be given so much of bounties, cash, land and whatnot? In times when all we hear around the nation is a spineless PM, a jailed central minister,CWG scam,2 G scam,Adarsh society scam, onion prices, power cuts and cash-for-votes,these fifteen men have given us a reason to smile and a cause to celebrate. When was the last time we saw an entire nation out on the streets distributing sweets? When was the last time our National Anthem was sung with such passion ?They made 1.2 billion people happy (even Gandhi could not keep the entire population happy) and they deserve everything. The critics should RIP.

* Let's speak politics.Tamilnadu is witnessing the most closely contested elections in the recent times. Both the fronts are banking on freebies to reach the other side of the shore. Personally, I wish Jayalalitha to become the CM this time because both regimes are similar in outlook and it is our duty to keep both fronts on their toes once in five years. Otherwise, corruption will get even more rampant.
Every time a new CM takes charge,I so optimistically follow the schemes implemented in the first few months. After that, vendetta and lethargy settle in which gets cleared only after the next elections are announced. If only our politicians display the enthusiasm they show to get votes after getting elected too,no one can stop Tamilnadu.

* As an afterthought, I wanted to cry loudly in the farewell party given by our juniors.Nothing of that sort happened. Even when "Musthafa" was being played (to add effect, candle in hand) ,Jeyavel was cracking jokes to make us laugh. I realised that no one sheds tears during farewell parties. Only when we come back home, sit down all alone and listen to friendship songs in headset waiting for a SMS or a call from any of our friends,we cry.I experienced it.

You will experience a different kind of sadness when everyone's vacated hostel and gone back home.. The last day will be spent on bidding adieus to all your friends that you would not think about what it means.. But when you are home, alone, the best parts of the 4 years would play like a flash right in front of your eyes.. That's when you'll realize that the 4 most important and the most constructive years of your life have just passed by.. This and the fact that you might not even see some of the faces in years to come will make you - I don't know what to call it.. "Cry" just makes it too trivial.. It's more than that..

    Brilliant post da Umesh..
