Lab Exam 1.0

I have always wished to post about my lab exams but have given up fearing the inclusion of terms like "Kuroda's Identity".But my DSP(Digital Signal Processing for the blessed,Degree Stopping Paper for the cursed) lab exam was so gratifying that I could not resist this post.
The previous night,I studied in Sivaraman's house.Or rather,I was compensating for all the wasted minutes in the lab sessions.Studying whatever was taught throughout the semester in a single night is what you call engineering.Over a cup of tea, four of us(Me,Sabari,Sridhar,Sivaraman) were brooding over Infinite Impulse Response filters.I could not make head or tail out of anything and started memorising the codes without understanding a word of it.It is an understatement if I say that whoever wrote the code for "Overlap Add" is an *******.Even after the other three slept off,I was struggling with the code until 2:30 AM before I realised the futility of ranging a lone battle against the Goliath.
The lab exam was even more hilarious.I read the question twice to realise that it was a FIR filter question.I derived an expression for H(n) without involving 'n' at all!Mrs.Sujatha(A genial and erudite teacher) looked at me as if I was her career's biggest challenge.I was half exhausted completing the manual calculations alone. Then came the gargantuan task of implementing it in Matlab.I did not know how to use "For" loop in Matlab.(For the Non-techians,the For loop in Matlab is analagous to noun in English grammar).Instead,I typed out 5 lines repetitively cramping the screen. For Mrs.Sujatha, this was the limit."Veera Kumar sir(Another genial and erudite teacher)!Indha payanuku onnume theriyale"-she shouted in her Aaromale Tamil. Then she gave her lecture with a single-line message:"Chairman elam labku veliyile".
After some more insults and cold stares from Mrs.Sujatha,I showed the output. There arose another problem.I did not know how to explain the output. It was like reading a newspaper upside down. All gibberish.Somehow I scampered through and came out of the lab.A loud "Phew" before I realised that another lab exam was close on heels within a week. There is nothing you can do other than cry "Ayyo kadavule".
